Now, he plays for FC Barcelona, as a defensive midfielder.He joined the Barça youth system in the summer of 2005 from Jabac. He got to play with the first team in the Copa Catalunya matches of 2007-08 and 2008-09, and then Sergio made his League debut on September 13, 2008 against Racing (1-1). He came on from the start and stayed out the full 90 minutes. Busquets would get more and more chances as the season drew on, and was very much involved in the famous treble win.
